The University of Gabès (Unviersité de Gabès in French) is a public university located in southern Tunisia with headquarters in Gabès. The university is oriented primarily toward Information Technology, but is also the home of the famous Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Gabès or National Engineering School of Gabès, commonly called "ENIG." This department provides high quality engineering education, notably in Chemical Engineering. The current president is Mr. Montacer Mabrouk.

    Campuses:
The university, in common with other Tunisian universities, has not one central Campus but mini-campuses for each field of study. The university does have two large campuses:
    Omar Khattab Campus:
The largest campus of the university, located in a somewhat isolated southern part of the city near Erriadh. Close to this campus is the largest sports complex in Gabès, and the Saharan Mountains are visible. The campus is not far from the main road leading to the tourist city of Matmata, and many students organize trips to Matmata on weekends.
Although the University of Gabès was formed relatively recently, it offers numerous faculties and institutes.
