*Civil status - Birth Considering the importance of this event, it has been encompassed by a number of prescriptions relating to the registration, the time limit and the mode of establishment of the birth record.
Who can be the informant? One of the following persons in order of decreasing priority is obliged to notify the birth: The father in the first place The physician or the midwife Any person present at childbirth Any other person in whose lodgings the childbirth took place Any person who does not notify a birth shall be punished by 6 moths imprisonment together with a fine. When has the registration to be made? The registration has to be made within 10 days following childbirth, except in the case of an authorization by the judge of the court of 1st instance of the place of birth.
*Civil status - Death Who is the competent registrar? The registrar of the place of death or the place of discovery of the corpse if the place of death is unknown.
Time limit for registration The time limit for registration is 3 days.
Persons obliged to notify A relative of the deceased or any person able to give exact information on the civil status of the deceased. The directors of the hospitals or dispensaries where the death occurred, within 24 hours following the death. The director of the prison: immediately The police officer in the case of death following acts of violence or equivocal circumstances, immediately. Death certificate and burial authorization Prior to the issue of the burial authorization, the informant has to produce:
A medical certificate in the case of a natural death. An authorization of the public attorney if the circumstance of death are not natural.
